PSL starter - educated_wish

How, exactly, Logan got to the world of the Bright City was anyone's guess. The TVA? The Watchers? America Chavez's powers? Magic? The Convergence? An Infinity Stone? Death? (And that's just the MCU!)

How he got to the Jingled Cleric, however, was one hundred percent obvious: it was a dive bar. Okay, a dive bar full of elves, half-elves, one robot in a veil, a couple of dwarves, and various other fantastical creatures - not excluding the black-eyed blond slinging drinks from behind the bar itself - but a dive bar nonetheless.

Welcome to the Bright Country, Logan, where the gods are loved almost as much as they love their people! So long as those people are the Right Kind of People, anyway.

"Not surprised you haven't heard that before. I think I'm the only person in this country that speaks that language...and I won't be surprised if the clerics come to talk to me for doing so." he shrugs, "It is the best for filth, however. Although you are pretty drunk."

"Don't worry about it, Bub. If they come to fuck with you, I'll get in their way."

Is he casually threatening violence? He's casually threatening violence.

"...after I sober up."

"Oooo, that's what we call a bad idea." he says with a slight shiver, "That's the kind of thing that gets the Wizards involved. How about you sober up, and then we'll talk about why threatening the clergy in a religious run country is a bad idea?"

"How about I do the opposite?" Logan ventures and then tries to drink some more.

...

And almost immediately, he starts feeling very sick and very sleepy. He reels a bit.

"C'mon," Zelanes says with amusement, "somehow I don't think you're going to be able to drink much more without making a mess. I am impressed with how much you've kept down, however." He attempts (attempts, he's honestly not sure if Logan can walk right now) to lead the other man to and up the stairs to the second floor where there are four smallish rooms containing a bed, a wash basin, a chair, and small desk each.

He manages to walk maybe three feet, before falling to the ground and passing out.

Between Zelanes himself, Nine, and the local blacksmith they manage to get Logan into bed.

Eventually.

And they only drop him like four times!

He's a heavy motherfucker, isn't he? He grunts a bit each time he's dropped, but generally doesn't wake up.

For about 20 hours.

Zelanes does check in on his sleeping guest about every other hour. Mostly to be sure he hasn't thrown up on himself and choked to death.

Eventually, Logan wakes up, and it's with a scream and an unsheathing of his claws.

Not that this is abnormal for him. It happens pretty much every time he wakes up. Might alarm someone who doesn't know that though.

"AUGH!" is the return scream, followed by a Very Angry Murderbot taking Zelanes' place in the door. So fast it's like magic! Except that it's really just a +4DEX Rogue pushing a Commoner out of the way.

"What the fuck is that?" Logan half focuses on the Murderbot, trying to decide if he needs to defend himself or not.

"Nine...I think it's okay. The nice patron is just hungover." Zelanes says from behind Nine, holding up a hand to Logan to try to keep this from devolving while he talks Nine down.

"There are hand knives." says a very flat, mechanical voice in return.

"Yes, yes, I know. There is also probably a raging hangover. You're not going to attack, right...uh...Never did exchange names last night. I'm Zelanes, this is Nine - they are a Warforged - and you are...?"

"Logan." He withdraws the claws, and shakes his head. "No attacking. My head hurts too fucking much."

Unless this Nine attacks first. Then he'll totally fucking go.

Nine really just. Stands in the door for another long moment while Zelanes tries, and fails, to get past them.

"See, Nine? Can you please go get breakfast for myself and Logan, now?"

"No."

"...Right. Okay. Logan - I'm going to get breakfast. It'll take me a bit to get it back here, I can't cook for shit. You drink some water," the desk sprouted a pitcher and glass at some point, "and. Uh. Hopefully Nine will be done staring at you sometime soon."

"Water? Fuck water. Give me more booze."

Is that a good idea? It's not a good idea. His abdomen - and head - aches. His healing hasn't been great about keeping up with the damage alcohol does to his body, especially not with this super powered stuff. But that doesn't stop him from falling into his habits.

"That's better than breakfast."

His stomach growls to contradict him.

"Nope. No booze until I've seen you eat at least one meal." he disappears again, leaving the now-silent Nine to just.

Be there.

Nine is disturbingly humanlike from about the bottom of the eyes up, but when they move the veil over the bottom of their face shows metal instead. Much like the metal fingers.

Zelanes is back in less time than he thought he'd be - turns out telling people you're trying to stop the creepy murder robot from getting in a fight speeds cook time. Shame about the people who had originally ordered this food.

It's probably best that Zelanes came back so quickly, as Logan is trying to have an aggravated staredown with Nine. He feels challenged and it never goes well when that happens. He doesn't actually make a move to do anything - his stomach is churning too much for that - but his eyes are aggressive as fuck.

Without moving, he glances Zelanes' way as he comes back with the food.

"Gimme."

Nine finally moves, for the first time. They hadn't even bothered to blink while Zelanes was gone.

"Nine, stop being a creeper." the tiefling says as he pushes past, "Here you go!" there is meat, it is true, but there are mostly vegetables and fruit. Island sub-tropical country food. It is delicately spiced, not spicy because: morning, and rich.

Zelanes has the same food, and plops down in the chair to eat since Logan. "So. I'm going to go with you're new to the country, not some revolutionary, because I really, really don't want to believe someone would start a revolution at the Jingled Cleric of all places."

"Revolutionary? Hah." Logan can't help but guffaw a little at that. "I'm done starting revolutions."

He picks at the food, mostly eating the meat. He's never been great about his diet.

"Oh thank the various gods." Zelanes says with deep, deep relief. "Because I'd be first on the execution platform."

He points a fork at Logan, "Eat the fruit, at least."

"Gonna make me?" Logan scowls at the instruction and the fork point. He tends to take things too personally, even when he knows better.

"Nope." It's quick and easy. "It's a strong suggestion, at most. The water and sugar in the fruit will help with the hangover."

"...oh." He regards the fruit suspiciously, then shrugs and starts to eat it.

Slowly, but still.

There is no further commentary on what Logan chooses to eat.

"So. New in the country? You, uh, don't seem like the usual sort to come here."
