How, exactly, Logan got to the world of the Bright City was anyone's guess. The TVA? The Watchers? America Chavez's powers? Magic? The Convergence? An Infinity Stone? Death? (And that's just the MCU!)

How he got to the Jingled Cleric, however, was one hundred percent obvious: it was a dive bar. Okay, a dive bar full of elves, half-elves, one robot in a veil, a couple of dwarves, and various other fantastical creatures - not excluding the black-eyed blond slinging drinks from behind the bar itself - but a dive bar nonetheless.

Welcome to the Bright Country, Logan, where the gods are loved almost as much as they love their people! So long as those people are the Right Kind of People, anyway.

After a very intense visual evaluation - which is probably fairly hard to read seeing as there is no delineation between pupil, iris, and sclera - another bottle is passed over.

"Yep. Satisfaction brought it back." he says with a faintly wry smile.

"I'm not going to push, but sometimes it helps to talk to someone who isn't close to the problems." Nobody with Logan's attitude only has one problem.

"I doubt you'll be satisfied hearing my story. I'm a shithead who's terminally depressed because he keeps getting people killed."

He drains the second bottle like the first and then reels a bit.

"Damn."

"Okay, so...you're like about five percent of my customers. Fifty-five if we just go with the shithead definition." he waves the Warforged away again. Nine can be...protective. "How do you keep getting people killed?"

"Oh, depends on the person. I accidentally stabbed my childhood friend, for one thing."

He still remembers the look on her face to this day. He glanced Nine's way as they get waved away again. "What's their problem?"

"Tripped?" he can come up with lots of ways to accidentally stab someone, honestly, "Huh, oh, Nine? Imagine a feral cat, but make it a murder robot instead. That's Nine. They're like a brother to me."

"More like, went feral and didn't notice who I was going at." He holds up his fist and extends his claws to demonstrate the weapon. "Hey, None, I'm not gonna attack anyone here."

He withdraws the claws.

"I'm not going to make the booze dry up."

[just_cursed]

"Huh." was the only real reaction as he looked at the hand-knives. "That looks really painful. Also, I'm sorry that you and your friend went through that. I've known some Barbarians. Rage is rough."

Nine fails to look impressed. Or anything else, really. It's easy not to emote when your face is half stiff and half covered in fabric.

"Not as sorry as I am." He doesn't comment on the painful part - he'd never admit to such a thing. "Rage is rough for those on the receiving end, yeah."

He'd also never admit to hurting himself with it.

"Rage can be rough on everyone. Those in it, those they hurt, and those around the blast zone." He lives in a world of fireballs. Blast zone is a thing.

"Yeah, well, it's not just rage when I experience it. My mind totally goes fucking blank. I can't think at all."

How that counters the idea it hurts him isn't clear.

"Some Barbarians have that kind of Rage." he agrees, "Not all of them can adventure with groups safely...and coming out of that has to be it's own kind of hell. 'What did I do?' 'Who did I hurt?' 'How badly are people hurt?'"

Logan is quiet for a minute before answering. When he does, it's completely avoiding the topic.

"Another bottle."

Except with the way he's swaying, he probably couldn't handle another.

"Only if you're willing to risk the rooms upstairs." He can't exactly take Logan's keys away, but he can demand the man sleep it off here. Where it is safe. "They're clean, if not particularly nice."

"Probably nicer than where I just came from, sharing an apartment with a foul mouthed asshole and an elderly blind ferret."

Not literally. He's just developed Wade's habit of being disrespectful to Al, as much as it used to offend him.

"Eh. Fifty-fifty." he says, setting out the third bottle. If he can't carry the guy upstairs, he and Nine probably can. "It's clean, no ferrets, but I can cuss in a couple of languages."

"I doubt you can beat Wade on that. Guy has a mouth like a down on their luck prostitute."

He takes the bottle and is actually hesitant for a moment before starting to drink it, slower this time.

He opens his mouth and something horrible comes out. It sounds like Hell(s). He only says one word, but it sounds like his throat must be bleeding just to make those noises, and somehow it also sounds absolutely vulgar. Then he looks cheerfully innocent, as though nothing like that could ever have come from his more-or-less-human-looking body.

Logan blinks, then extends the hand holding the bottle and looks at it. "I must be real fucking drunk," he says. "Because that was just weird."

"Not surprised you haven't heard that before. I think I'm the only person in this country that speaks that language...and I won't be surprised if the clerics come to talk to me for doing so." he shrugs, "It is the best for filth, however. Although you are pretty drunk."

"Don't worry about it, Bub. If they come to fuck with you, I'll get in their way."

Is he casually threatening violence? He's casually threatening violence.

"...after I sober up."

[just_cursed]

"Oooo, that's what we call a bad idea." he says with a slight shiver, "That's the kind of thing that gets the Wizards involved. How about you sober up, and then we'll talk about why threatening the clergy in a religious run country is a bad idea?"

"How about I do the opposite?" Logan ventures and then tries to drink some more.

...

And almost immediately, he starts feeling very sick and very sleepy. He reels a bit.

"C'mon," Zelanes says with amusement, "somehow I don't think you're going to be able to drink much more without making a mess. I am impressed with how much you've kept down, however." He attempts (attempts, he's honestly not sure if Logan can walk right now) to lead the other man to and up the stairs to the second floor where there are four smallish rooms containing a bed, a wash basin, a chair, and small desk each.

He manages to walk maybe three feet, before falling to the ground and passing out.

Between Zelanes himself, Nine, and the local blacksmith they manage to get Logan into bed.

Eventually.

And they only drop him like four times!
